Join Master Baker Angela McEllin for a delicious journey into traditional Italian home baking as you create a beautiful Italian Apple Breakfast Cake (Torta di Mele), accompanied by homemade Vanilla Semifreddo and a rich Caramel Sauce.
You'll begin by making Torta di Mele, a rustic, light, and wonderfully moist apple cake that's a staple in Italian homes. Traditionally enjoyed with a morning espresso or cappuccino, this simple yet delicious cake celebrates the natural sweetness of fresh apples. Angela will guide you through preparing the apples, mixing the batter, and achieving that perfect tender crumb and delicate cinnamon-sugar crust.
While your cake is baking, you'll turn your attention to two irresistible accompaniments. First, you'll make a silky Vanilla Semifreddo, a classic Italian frozen dessert with a rich, creamy texture. Then, learn the secrets to making a smooth, buttery Caramel Sauce to drizzle over your finished dessert.
To finish, you'll bring all three elements together, serving a slice of freshly baked apple cake with creamy vanilla semifreddo and a generous drizzle of homemade caramel sauce.
Three delicious recipes, plenty of hands-on baking experience, and new skills to take home!
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced home baker, this class is a wonderful way to discover the simple pleasures of Italian baking.
This class is suitable for the following Dynamic Duo types:
YES: Parent/Grandparent & Child
YES: Couples/Roommates (live in the same household)
YES: Friends (you will share all equipment/ingredients for 1 recipe/batch…we let you rock, paper, scissors if the recipe doesn’t divide equally.)
*What is a Dynamic Duo? It’s basically two buddies sharing the same workstation at no extra charge. You share all equipment and ingredients for a singlebatch of whatever we’re making that day. (Don’t worry, we won’t stick you with some random stranger- if you want to fly solo, you’ll have the station (and all the yummy food) all to yourself!)
We provide aprons, recipes, all ingredients, supplies, and tools required for use during each class. Best of all you get to take home whatever tasty treats you make - we provide all boxes/packaging.
Please wear comfortable shoes (stools will be provided) and have long hair tied back. For the comfort of all our students and staff, we ask that you refrain from wearing strong perfume or cologne. You may wish to bring a cardigan or sweater as the kitchen is kept at 68F.
