A Six-Week Cooking Series for Independent in the Kitchen (Ages 11–18)

Give your teen the practical skills and confidence to become independent in the kitchen! This fully hands-on, six-week course takes students from preparing simple breakfasts and delicious bakes to making homemade bread, family dinners and a complete three-course meal.

Working at their own cooking stations, students follow along step-by-step with their instructor, preparing every dish themselves. Along the way, they'll develop essential life skills, including knife safety, weighing and measuring, following recipes, kitchen organization, time management, food safety and cleaning as they go.

Each week introduces new cooking and baking techniques, building on the skills learned in previous classes.

What we'll be making:

  • Week 1 – The Big Brunch: Belgian waffles, vegetable frittatas, homemade breakfast sausage patties and vanilla semifreddo.

  • Week 2 – Quick Sweet Bakes: Banana bread, blueberry muffins and fudgy chocolate brownies.

  • Week 3 – Homemade Fast Food: Chicken nuggets, homemade burgers, oven-baked French fries and creamy milkshakes.

  • Week 4 – Family Bake: Homemade chicken pot pies and classic apple pies, including making pastry from scratch.

  • Week 5 – Bread, Bread, Bread!: Cheddar and herb quick bread, classic yeast bread and soft dinner rolls.

  • Week 6 – The Three-Course Meal: Tomato and basil bruschetta, pan-seared chicken with garlic and herb potatoes and green beans, followed by vanilla panna cotta.

By the end of the course, students will have gained practical cooking and baking experience, learned to plan and prepare a meal from start to finish, and developed the confidence to cook independently at home.

And the best part? Students will bring home delicious food they've made themselves after every class, ready to share with the family!

We provide all ingredients, supplies, and tools required for use during each class. Best of all you get to take home whatever tasty treats you make - we provide all boxes/packaging too!

Please wear comfortable shoes (stools will be provided) and have long hair tied back. For the comfort of all our students and staff, we ask that you refrain from wearing strong perfume or cologne. You may wish to bring a cardigan or sweater as the kitchen is kept at 68F.
